I have had the pleasure of being acquainted with Stephen J Ferguson’s music for a few years now, and I will say his music is some of the smoothest I’ve heard. It seems to me that I can recognize his signature on all his tunes.
Ferguson’s music has played on WDGP radio almost from the beginning. Even so, Saturday was the first time he has guested on Conversations. It was such a pleasure to speak with him about his music. his record label, SJF Music and more.
A Native of the DMV, Stephen currently makes his home in Kansas. He is planning a huge event in 2013 that will benefit Music Students and be a wonderful community event. Do You Like What You See?

Glenn Gordon is a longtime friend to WDGP and when he approached us to inquire if we would help him spread the word out his recent campaign, we didn’t hesitate. Glenn, who has been among the homeless, not once but three times, had a dream that he must see to fruition.
He wants to pay it forward from all the help he received when he was on the street. He says he made attempts to pay folks back but they wouldn’t accept it, so instead he is developing items for sale revolving around the song and concept that came to him in a dream. Do You Like What You See is truly an inspiration. The track is available for download from his website GG’s Music and CDBaby in the near future. Glenn is also planing to sell T-Shirts and other items and will donate 20% of theses proceeds to organizations that aide the homeless.
We feel this is a very worthy cause and commend Glenn Gordon for his efforts. Take a listen to the song and pay particular attention to the lyrics, although simple there is a distinct message in them.

Once upon a day, the powers that be decided to remove the musical creation we had come to know as FUNK from the record store bins and formats of radio stations worldwide. The primary intent was to completely obliterate the concept of FUNK from our collective consciousness in order to facilitate the control of our thought process and reprogram our minds to their liking. They attempted to exterminate all interference from the forces of those “rebellious Funkateers”. They almost succeeded in crushing the resistance… but… it’s a new day and United Funk Order has arrived to remove all restrictions currently imposed on your memory banks so that you may once again enjoy the groovalicious music your subconscious has been secretly craving for… rockin’ it hard and funkin it slow for ya………
Currently the world of music seems plagued by large doses of mediocrity and an overall deficiency of truly compelling music…. it seems artists and record companies are often driven by financial considerations as opposed to heartfelt inspiration. Spearheaded by Thulani and Indigo, United Funk Order is on a mission to restore balance to the musical equation. We absolutely love it when Artists pick WDGP as the place that they want to premiere their work, and since Mr Davis has been with us on Conversations several times its even more special.
Mr Davis was my first guest for 2011 and if the old wives tale is correct, then we are in for a great year. Winfield is a guest that has a large following so we love it when he visits.
Not only did we have a great conversation, as always with Mr. Davis, he chose to share a few tracks from his soon to be released project “Ethereal Journey”. I would give you more details but I want you to listen to the interview.

Winfield Davis and the Band

The last time we spoke to Winfield Davis, he told us he was looking to find Musicians to go on tour with him. That was just a couple of weeks ago. Imagine my surprise when he informed me a few days ago that he would have some other guest with him on the show last nightand the band was complete. Now this is a goal oriented Musician who has many flavors and layers to his music already, on a mission to put together a band that will work well together and one in which each band member will bring a little flavor of their own to the musical blend that is Winfield Davis Band and Show. The other members of the Band are Jeff Kemper on Bass, Mike Alpi on Guitar and Keyboards, Joe Santangelo on Drums, Frank “Franky the Keyboard Man” Macaganone Jr on Keyboards.All of them are veterans of their craft and I for one am very eager to sample the stew. It was a pleasant surprise to have Jazz Bass Player Winfield Davis join us on last night’s edition of Conversations. It was delightful to chat with him. He is a musician extraordinaire. A true professional. He composed, arranged, produced and played all the instruments on his recordings. He epitomizes “Independent Musician” and is very down to earth. Glenn is a beautiful person, I knew this just as soon as I had spoken to him for 5 minutes. He is the type of person who will help first and ask the questions later. He is a talented Musician, Song Writer (his music is played in rotation on WDGP radio) and Composer. He is the owner of his own Independent Record Label and an Inventor. He became involved in the copyright business because of a happening in his own life. Instead of getting mad, he decided to get even but not only educating himself, but educating others as well.
Glenn has been at this 30 years or more. Now it has evolved into a way to help others make money as well. All it takes is some of their time, no money from there pocket, and they can profit from each person that attends [that] seminar.
